​Programme 1:One-week Oxford University Experience Programme

Day 1 – Arrival & Orientation

Theme: Welcome to Oxford – Tradition, Discovery, and Inspiration
   •    Arrival and Registration
Participants arrive in Oxford, check in to accommodation, and receive their welcome packs.
   •    Orientation & City Introduction
Guided walking tour of Oxford’s historic colleges, libraries, and landmarks.
   •    Ice-Breaker Activity: “Treasure Find”
A guided exploration game designed to help students discover Oxford’s hidden highlights and bond with new peers.

Day 2 – Academic Foundations

Theme: Understanding the Oxbridge Model
   •    UK University Focus: The Oxbridge System
An overview of the academic culture and collegiate structure of Oxford and Cambridge.
   •    Inside Admissions: The Oxbridge Selection Process
Insight into the unique application, interview, and tutorial systems.
   •    Taster Seminar: Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)
Experience a mini-lecture introducing Oxford’s world-renowned interdisciplinary degree.
   •    Introduction to Shakespeare
Explore the life, works, and enduring legacy of Shakespeare. Participants choose one play for in-depth study throughout the week.

Day 3 – Core Academic Skills

Theme: Thinking, Writing, and Expressing Ideas
   •    Masterclass: Academic Writing for University Success
Learn how to structure persuasive and analytical essays for top-tier university applications.
   •    Taster Session: Critical Thinking at Oxford
Develop the ability to construct, analyse, and challenge logical arguments.
   •    Play Analysis Workshop: Character Deconstruction
Examine a chosen Shakespeare play through close reading and individual role study.

Day 4 – Presentation, Interview & Cultural Engagement

Theme: Articulation, Confidence, and Reflection
   •    Masterclass: Effective Presentation and Public Speaking Skills
Practical training in confident and engaging communication.
   •    Workshop: University Interview Skills
Learn strategies for success in Oxbridge-style academic interviews — including how to think aloud, respond to challenging questions, and present intellectual curiosity under pressure.
   •    Taster Tutorial: The Oxford One-to-One System
Experience a personalised tutorial — the hallmark of Oxford’s academic excellence.
   •    Cultural Evening: Shakespeare on Stage & Screen
Enjoy a theatre performance or film adaptation of the selected Shakespeare play, followed by guided discussion.

Day 5 – Research, Debate & Collaboration

Theme: Inquiry, Dialogue, and Performance
   •    Introduction to Academic Research Methods
Learn the essentials of independent research, referencing, and critical source evaluation.
   •    The Oxford Union Debate Experience
Participate in or observe a debate modelled after Oxford’s historic Union format.
   •    Play Rehearsal: “Making the Play”
Engage in casting, direction, and staging of selected scenes from the chosen Shakespeare work.

Day 6 – Culmination & Celebration

Theme: Performance, Recognition, and Cultural Farewell
   •    Group Project: Collaborative Presentation and Interview
Prepare and deliver a capstone presentation on a studied academic or literary theme.
   •    Final Performance: Staging Shakespeare
Present a condensed live performance of the rehearsed play segments.
   •    Closing Ceremony & Certificate Presentation
Recognition of individual and group achievements through awards and certificates.
   •    Farewell Cultural Excursion
Visit one of Oxford’s renowned museums, such as the Ashmolean Museum, before departure.
   •    Check-Out and Departure
 

Programme 2:Ancient Greek Gods,Mysteries and Philosophies

Week 1: Gods, Heroes, and Monsters

Daily Sample Schedule (Monday - Friday)

  • 09:00 - 10:30: Mythical Masters

    • Session Focus: Discovering the Olympian Gods and their realms.

    • Activity: Create a "God Card" for a major deity (Zeus, Athena, Poseidon) detailing their symbols, powers, and stories.

  • 11:00 - 12:30: Heroic Quests

    • Session Focus: The Twelve Labours of Heracles or the Journey of Jason and the Argonauts.

    • Activity: Map the quests across a large map of the Mediterranean. Design a new "labour" or challenge for a hero.

  • 13:30 - 15:00: Creative Workshop

    • Monday: Pottery & Vase Painting - Decorate a terracotta pot with a mythological scene.

    • Tuesday: Drama & Storytelling - Act out the story of Persephone and Hades.

    • Wednesday: Monster Maker - Design and model your own mythical creature (like Chimera, Cerberus) using clay or crafts.

    • Thursday: Olympic Games - Host mini-Olympic events (discus with foam rings, foot races) in the university parks.

    • Friday: Project Planning - Form groups and decide on a final project (e.g., a short play, a model of Olympus, a comic book).

  • 15:15 - 17:00: Oxford Exploration

    • Visit: The Ashmolean Museum. Scavenger hunt to find Greek pottery, statues, and artefacts related to the week's topics.

    • Activity: A walking tour to identify classical architectural styles (columns, pediments) on Oxford University buildings.

Weekend Excursion: A Trip to Roman Britain (Reflecting on Classical Antiquity)

  • Saturday: Full-Day Trip to Bath

    • Connection to Theme: While Roman, Bath provides a tangible connection to the classical world that worshipped similar gods (the Romans adopted much of Greek mythology).

    • Activities:

      • Explore the Roman Baths complex, dedicated to the goddess Sulis Minerva (a blend of Celtic and Roman deities).

      • Workshop: "If Gods Could Talk" – imagining what offerings and prayers people would have made at the temple.

    • Evening: Return to Oxford for a relaxed evening and pizza party.

  • Sunday: Rest, free time, and preparation for Week 2.

Week 2: The Epic Journeys and Their Legacy

Daily Sample Schedule (Monday - Friday)

  • 09:00 - 10:30: Epic Tales

    • Session Focus: Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey.

    • Activity: Storyboard the key events of the Trojan War or Odysseus's encounter with the Cyclops.

  • 11:00 - 12:30: Wisdom & Words

    • Session Focus: The legacy of Greek ideas: Philosophy, Theatre, and Science.

    • Activity: A simplified Socratic dialogue on a topic like "What is bravery?" or a workshop on creating masks for Greek comedy and tragedy.

  • 13:30 - 16:00: Project Studio & Final Rehearsals

    • Focus: This block is dedicated entirely to working on the final group project with guidance from tutors.

    • Groups work on creating their plays, building their models, or finishing their comic books.

  • 16:00 - 17:00: Special Guest Sessions

    • e.g., A university student specializing in Classics gives a fun, interactive talk on "Being a Classicist Today."

Weekend Excursion: To the Seat of a Warrior King

  • Saturday: Full-Day Trip to Warwick Castle

    • Connection to Theme: While a medieval castle, Warwick's history of knights, chivalry, and heroic tales provides a perfect parallel to the Greek heroic age.

    • Activities:

      • Explore the castle and its grounds.

      • Workshop: "Modern Heroes vs. Ancient Heroes" – comparing the qualities of a medieval knight to those of Achilles or Odysseus.

      • Watch the bird of prey show or jousting tournament, discussing the themes of skill and competition present in Greek myths.

Programme 3 : Ecosystem Explorers

Core Theme: A Two-Week Adventure in Nature

Week 1: Local Habitats and Life Cycles

Daily Sample Schedule (Monday - Friday)

  • 09:00 - 10:30: Nature Detectives

    • Session Focus: Introduction to ecosystems, food chains, and biodiversity.

    • Activity: Create a "Local Habitat Map" of Oxford’s green spaces, labeling key plants and animals.

  • 11:00 - 12:30: Life in Water

    • Session Focus: Freshwater ecosystems—rivers, ponds, and their inhabitants.

    • Activity: Study water samples from the River Thames under microscopes; design a "fantasy aquatic creature" adapted to its environment.

  • 13:30 - 15:00: Creative Workshop

    • Monday: Build a "Bug Hotel" using natural materials to explore insect habitats.

    • Tuesday: Leaf and Flower Pressing—create art while learning about plant identification.

    • Wednesday: Bird Beak Adaptation Lab—use tools to mimic how birds eat different foods.

    • Thursday: Mini-Olympics of Nature—relay races based on animal movements (e.g., frog jumps, spider crawls).

    • Friday: Project Planning—Form groups to design a "Ecosystem Diorama" (e.g., woodland, wetland, or meadow).

  • 15:15 - 17:00: Oxford Exploration

    • Visit: Oxford Botanic Garden—scavenger hunt for plants from different biomes.

    • Activity: River Walk along the Cherwell—sketch wildlife and discuss human impact on waterways.

Weekend Excursion: A Trip to the Countryside

  • Saturday: Full-Day Trip to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park

    • Connection to Theme: Observe how animals adapt to varied habitats, from grasslands to wetlands.

    • Activities:

      • Guided tour focusing on conservation and species survival.

      • Workshop: "Design a Habitat"—plan an ideal enclosure for an endangered animal.

      • Nature journaling session, recording observations and sketches.

    • Evening: Return to Oxford for a campfire and storytelling about animal myths and facts.

  • Sunday: Rest, free time, and preparation for Week 2.

Week 2: Global Biomes and Human Impact

Daily Sample Schedule (Monday - Friday)

  • 09:00 - 10:30: Biome Explorers

    • Session Focus: Discover rainforests, deserts, tundras, and oceans.

    • Activity: Create a "Biome Passport" with climate, species, and threats for each region.

  • 11:00 - 12:30: Conservation Champions

    • Session Focus: Human impact and solutions—pollution, climate change, and rewilding.

    • Activity: Debate: "Should we rewild Oxfordshire?" Design a campaign poster for an endangered species.

  • 13:30 - 16:00: Project Studio & Final Rehearsals

    • Focus: This block is dedicated to building the "Ecosystem Diorama" with guidance from tutors.

    • Groups work on constructing their models, adding detailed labels and conservation messages.

  • 16:00 - 17:00: Special Guest Sessions

    • e.g., A local conservationist gives a talk on "Protecting Oxford’s Wild Spaces."

Weekend Excursion: Coastal Discovery

  • Saturday: Full-Day Trip to a Coastal Nature Reserve

    • Connection to Theme: Explore the unique ecosystem where land meets sea, studying adaptation and human impact.

    • Activities:

      • Guided beachcombing—identify shells, seaweed, and marine life.

      • Workshop: "Ocean Guardians"—discuss plastic pollution and create art from cleaned beach litter.

      • Bird watching—study seabirds and their nesting habits.

Final Friday: The Eco-Expo

  • 10:00 - 12:00: Final Project Presentations. Each group presents their "Ecosystem Diorama" and conservation ideas at the Eco-Expo.

  • 12:00 - 13:00: Celebratory Feast. A sustainable picnic with local, seasonal foods.

  • 13:00 - 14:00: Graduation Ceremony. Each student receives a "Junior Ecologist" certificate.

  • Afternoon: Departure.
